Rich white guys are making money through creating vaccine disinformation campaigns. They’re targeting our community the hardest.

So, fun story: You already know the movie series. the purgegood?

The movie is about a government that facilitates one day each year when all crimes are legal. They go out of their way to make it clear that this includes murder.

It’s as horrible as you’d expect: lots of torture, lots of petty vendettas, lots of people busting newfangled killing machines and crazy gadgets on the one day of the year they can be as reckless as they want without consequences.

The truth is, I can never finish any of the movies. I know I’m supposed to focus on the revenge and torture stories, but it’s the smaller subplots that distract me. For example, a gentleman with a high-powered explosives launcher targets a poor community with the intention of emptying it out completely and making room for his new real estate venture. Or how, in The first purge which is the story of how the experimental purge was carried out in an impoverished New York community, expressly stated with the intent to eliminate the poor and, by extension, save money on the social programs they use. What’s more, some of the comments from residents actually praised how homelessness had been drastically reduced, but it wasn’t because they finally had jobs and were able to find a home, they were simply victims of the purge.

That there was an orchestrated plot created to help people in power seize the land and resources of oppressed groups in ways that would otherwise be illegal, unethical, and immoral. without consequences He seems more of a nightmare to me than a fool in a tank. To me, it’s terrifying because it seems more real than we realize.

I tried to stop blogging when COVID was at its peak this year, because I felt like I needed to make space for public health. experts who had more knowledge to be able to speak. He didn’t need to saturate the Internet with all this healthy living talk; we are here trying to survive, and I needed to let the scientists help us do it. Except that’s the explicit opposite of what happened.

There is apparently a mad race going on to influence Black thinking and decision-making when it comes to both COVID-19 and the vaccine that protects us from it. And it’s not black people who are behind this.

Imagine my disgust when I receive a press release via email, promoting a ‘documentary’ intended to, well, it says it quite clearly:

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Children’s Health Advocacytogether with centner productions and the Urban Global Health Alliance (UGHA), and co-producers Rev. Tony Muhammad and author/historian Curtis Cost, today announced the launch of trailer for his upcoming documentary “Medical racism: the new apartheid”which opens on March 11, 2021. The trailer is available here.

“Medical Racism” illuminates the shocking story of human experimentation directed at Black people by government health regulators and private pharmaceutical companies. “While many Americans are familiar with the historic medical atrocities committed by CDC in Tuskegeeby the father of American gynecology, Dr J Marion Sims in South Carolina slavesand the continuation medical theft against Henrietta lacksThey are probably not aware of the routine medical barbarism against Africans that persists today,” said the film’s co-producer, Curtis Cost. [source]

Before I even begin, I should point out that the title of this documentary is extremely similar to that of a book written by a black woman, Harriet A. Washington, titled medical apartheid. In his book, Washington outlines the history of medical science and its abuses against marginalized communities of all kinds, not just “Africans.” Washington’s book is heartbreaking but nuanced, helping us understand the necessary paths we must take to reach a place of not just trust, but mutual respect, both for the purposes of medicine and for the role of “patient”.

All indications are that they copied much of her information, and her title, from her 15+ year old book, and zero indication that she was included in their film. More important, washington has been abundantly his position is clear: he believes that you have to get vaccinated.

Hear how NPR characterizes this… this… thing:

With this film, Kennedy and his allies in the anti-vaccine movement resurface and promote disproved claimsabout the dangers of vaccines, but it is aimed squarely at a specific demographic: African-Americans.

The film draws a line from the disturbingly true story of racism and atrocities in the medical field, such as the Tuskegee Syphilis Study – to interviews with anti-vaccine activists warning communities of color to be suspicious of modern vaccines.

at a time when medical racismviewers are warned that “something is very sinister in black communities” and “the same thing that happened in the 1930s during the eugenics movement“It’s happening again.

There is a long discussion about the completely disproven link between autism and vaccines. For example, the film refers to a study of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on measles-mumps-rubella vaccines and autism rates as evidence that African-American children are being particularly harmed, but the study did not actually conclude that African Americans are at increased risk of autism due to vaccination.

The film then shows a graphic that claims to use that same CDC data, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, to make a connection between vaccinating black children and autism risk. The graph’s findings closely resemble another study sometimes mentioned by anti-vaccine activists, but the medical journal then he retracted the study, due to “undeclared competing interests on the part of the author” and “concerns about the validity of the methods and statistical analysis”. (The author of that study was also an independent contractor paid by Kennedy’s group as of 2020 and sits on its board of directors.) [source]

Originally founded as the Global Mercury Project focused on the anti-MMR vaccine, Children’s Health Defense, founded by Kennedy (Yeah, that kind of kennedy), disclaims entire parts of its home page to claim that there are ‘myths’ and ‘secrets’ about the vaccine that they They’re digging up, but somehow some mysterious force is ‘censoring’ their content, despite them being responsible for 54% of the anti-vaccine advertising available on Facebook right now. (Kennedy was specifically banned from Instagram, but by violating their terms of use. CHD, however, was not).

The Urban Global Health Alliance, an entity that I literally own never heard of it, probably because was created just last year at the start of the pandemic with No identifiable or responsible board members or individuals identified by name as the source of this information, is essentially a nameless and faceless collective with little more than this film to their credit as their contribution to “urban global health,” which whatever that means.

Muhammad, one of the film’s co-producers, compared vaccination to “Tuskegee,” which, again, Tuskegee were not people being injected with something harmful; the Tuskegee syphilis study focused on black men treatment is deniedafter he first hooked up with Kennedy years ago. cost, the movie other co-producer, is an HIV denialist. (I don’t know how you can deny the reality of HIV and still get away with your credibility intact, but hey, I guess.)

A rich white man; a shadowy, unidentifiable organization whose concern for “urban” health—and we all know that the “urban” has always it meant “black”, it didn’t really exist before the covid lockdowns started; a man who is only too happy to lie to our faces about something as serious as HIV and AIDS, everyone wants to exploit our legitimate questions about the health care system and medical science in America…for what?

I mentioned the purge, not because I believe in a collective of people literally trying to purge society of black and brown people, but to point to a description of the ways in which people will be comfortable with the loss of large swaths of the population for political, financial or professional gain, or worse: influence.

Maybe they’re not trying to empty entire blocks of black people so the land can be redeveloped for the incoming gentrification. Maaaaaaybe they are not trying to eliminate entire swaths of poor communities under the misguided belief that we are somehow the majority of the users of public assistance. But if successfully testing anti-vaccination rhetoric on us means they can gain insight into what kind of language successfully sells alternative, and often unsuccessful, methods of health management, well… Who cares if a few blacks die?

Or maybe, as is the case of US Senator Rand Paulwhose wife is a financial investor in the Gilead pharmaceutical company that makes treatments for people after they have already been infected with COVIDAre you discouraging people from getting vaccinated because you want that money? And, if some people actually listen to you, that is, right before was suspended from YouTube for a week for spreading misinformation—and decides to skip the vaccine and die, well… Who cares? Senator Paul got his money. That is what mattered most.

Both the purge and the current climate around disinformation represent the same kind of contempt: the apathy towards the suffering of others, and the same kind of eagerness to benefit from the harm they have caused, all at the expense of the same communities.

By all means have a very real and serious conversation about the virus, its side effects and the vaccine. But if that conversation is not rooted in science, rooted in the reality of more than 150,000,000 vaccines administered so far, and in the ultimate goal of keeping us safe? simply You can not trust. We’ve already been told that their profits matter more than our lives. If we filter everything we’re told through that lens, well, Who cares?

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
